Audrey A. Annis
Audrey was born August 26, 1927 to Arnold and Muriel (Dobie) Haberer in Mapleton, Minn. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1945, and married Paul Annis that same year on November 30, 1945.
She was a homemaker until she started working at the Mapleton Enterprise, taking Blossom Spaulding's place. Active in the community, Audrey was the Mapleton Chamber of Commerce secretary for 20+ years, the Maple River Burns Club Secretary for 25 years, an Election Judge for 45 years, the St. John's Lutheran Church Council Secretary for 6 years, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and involved in the Region 9 economic development commission.
Audrey was also an avid reader, enjoyed the sport of curling and was a member of the Heatherette Curling Club.
Paul and Audrey established Backward Glance Antique business. During this time, Audrey gave classes, bought and sold antiques and sold postcards on the internet. The couple spent many winters RVing in Texas and Florida where they did antique shows.
Most of all, Audrey loved and enjoyed her entire family, including children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Audrey is survived by one daughter Jane (Keith) Pickering, Le Sueur, MN; four sons: Steven (Beverly) Rapidan, MN; Bruce (Mindy), Lake Washington; Jeffrey (Linda), Mapleton, MN; and Peter (Wendy), Owatonna, MN; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Joyce Johnson, Mapleton, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by husband Paul Annis; son Donald; her parents; sister Kay Solie; and other relatives and friends.
Audrey passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the Mapleton Community Home.
Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2026 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Sterling Cemetery, rural Mapleton.
