Obituary - Eleanora Olson

Eleanora H. Olson, age 95, of Mapleton, MN died Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Mapleton Community Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Nasinec Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the funeral home. Pastor Larry Sipe will be officiating, and burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Mapleton, MN. Eleanora Hannah was born January 23, 1931 to Emil and Freeda (Roemhildt) Krause in Elysian, MN. She met Alvin Olson while roller-skating in Mankato; they were later married on April 20, 1951 in Mankato. Eleanora and Alvin enjoyed attending gun shows and spending time with their family. In her free time, she enjoyed being in her garden, baking and decorating cakes for the whole town of Mapleton. When she wasn’t outside, she liked to sew shot shell bags into teddy bears, vests and quilts.  
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Hilbert Krause and sister Norma (Shorty) Richert.
Eleanora is survived by her children: Barry (Marlis) Olson of Janesville, MN, Laurie (Daniel) Dienst of Faribault, MN, Craig (Pam) Olson of Oak Park Heights, MN, Beverly Smith of Buffalo Lake, MN and Keith (Dawn) Olson of Terry, MT; grandchildren: Nicole Bowman, Ingrid Spiess, Annaka (Austin) Athmann, Berlyn Olson, Kahler Olson; Cutler (Melissa) Olson, Courtney (Steve) Larson; Jordyn Olson and Olivia Chaska; great grandchildren: Jari and Otto Spiess, Auri and Sage Athmann; Nicole and Katelyn Olson; Will and Mackenzie Larson; along with several nieces, nephews and their families.
