This digitally enhanced photo shows Mapleton’s library mid-construction, in 1909. The building was the first “small” Carnegie library and the result of a $5000 grant from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, which hinged on the town’s commitment to allot funds for its upkeep. It was dedicated on February 11, 1910. The original photo is on display at the Maple River Heritage Museum.
